May 22 , 2008 - Devotional: Worthless Worry

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labour or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of theses. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'. For the pagans run after all these things, and Your Heavenly Father knows you need them. But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
(Matthew 6:28-34)

WORTHLESS WORRY

I had been worrying about a problem for days concerning my family. On the day that a decision was required, while I was showering, God planted the solution into my mind that was so simple and effective I couldn't help but marvel about God's goodness, provision, ingenuity, and caring. It helped me realize that worry was a sin because it testified of not trusting the all knowing, Sovereign God. God had revealed His plan for my problem that He had prepared since the beginning of the world. I just need to commit it to Him in prayer and not take the problem back. It takes practice but being in the Word and in prayer every day, and you are delving into the mind and heart of God whose ways are perfect and who always works thing out for the good of those who believe in Him.

Rejoice in the Lord Always!
