September 22, 2008 - Devotional: In Whom Will You Trust?

IN WHOM WILL YOU TRUST?

Federal elections on both sides of the border are fast approaching and the mud slinging is increasing. Gone are the issues, replaced instead with intent to demean and discredit opponents. Rhetoric abounds and controversies, scandals, and rumours are timely released from mysteriously obtained documents.

It seems that the strategy is to present carefully thought out plans, demonstrate character and integrity and instill a sense of confidence in abilities with sensitivity to the electorate, but instead the last one standing with the least amount of unpleasantness attached to them wins.

Speech writers and those who make their living grooming personalities take precedence over candidates demonstrating morality, truth and honesty.

If we place our confidence in elected officials we will never have peace. We should pray for them but our faith and trust must be placed upon the only One who is Pure, Holy and Faithful, the Lord God.

Today's Scripture goes on to say, "But you would have none of it." V15B
Don't reject God's plea to be included in your life. He sent His Only Son as a demonstration of His love for you. His desire is for you, and when you receive Jesus you make peace with your Heavenly Father and your life is opened to the endless opportunities of His eternal plan for you.

Rejoice in the Lord Always!
