October 6, 2008 - Devotional: How Much Time Do You Want?

"There's an appropriate time to do things, a right time for everything on earth: A right time for birth and another for death, a right time to plant and another to reap, a right time to kill and another to heal, a right time to destroy and another to construct, a right time to cry and another to laugh, a right time to lament and another to cheer, a right time to make love and another to abstain, a right time to embrace and another to part, a right time to search and another to count your losses, a right time to hold on and another to let go, a right time to rip out and another to mend, a right time to shut up and another to speak up, a right time to love and another to hate, a right time to wage war and another to make peace."
(Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 The Message)

HOW MUCH TIME TO DO YOU WANT?

I listened with amusement to a voice mail from a vendor rep who wanted to come in with his boss and discuss business. "If we could come in tomorrow around 10, we would need about an hour of your time."

I called back a couple of days later and laughed "I don't give my kids an hour of my time, you'll get 5 minutes or less."

It seems I always find time for what I want to do but make the excuse of being too busy when I am confronted with an unpleasant task. I take what I do way too seriously as if I'm the only important person out there, that what I do or have planned should take precedence over any and every other.

It's funny how sickness or some major crisis can change your perspective on life.

God has set eternity in our hearts and only a relationship with Him will allow you to realize it.

Rejoice in the Lord Always!
