October 17, 2008 - Devotional: Mission Impossible

"Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he had hoped to see some miracle done by Him. Then he questioned Him with many words, BUT HE ANSWERED HIM NOTHING."
(Luke 23:8-9)

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

Dr. Charles Stanley wrote on verse B that "Herod had no interest in Jesus the Messiah or Jesus the Saviour, he simply wanted to see a magic show. Jesus refused to speak a single word to the King. No one can manipulate Him into doing their bidding." (Life Principles Bible, May 6)

God won't be pressured into changing His mind, God isn't caught by surprise, He isn't fallible, He does not make mistakes, He can't under estimate, He does not lack wisdom. He is Divine, Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent (all powerful, all seeing, all present).

Instead of cajoling God, we're better served to seek Him and obey Him.

Rejoice in the Lord Always!
