February 26 , 2009- Devotional: Dishwasher Safe

DISHWASHER SAFE

You would think that a dishwasher would always remain clean. After all, the water is extremely hot and if flows through the ports with tremendous pressure.

After we had a new state of the art Miele installed, one that operates whisper quiet, I thought I had a maintenance free unit.

Six months down the road, my wife started to notice that the dishes were not coming out as clean as we were accustomed to. I contemplated calling in a service technician to repair the dishwasher under warranty until I read the manual that explained procedures on required regular cleaning. I removed the revolving water jet arms only to find the multiple holes plugged with bits of food, rice, bone, and even plastic. After I was done, she was back to 100% efficiency. The water channels had to be cleansed and kept clean.

So it is with our spiritual lives. Since we live in a sinful world, like the dishwasher, we are constantly bombarded with dirty, filthy, gook-covered garbage all that can negatively affect us.

We constantly need to be in the Manual, the Holy Bible, to know what is right, and to continually go to God for renewal and cleansing.

The believer is directed to continue to confess our sin (See 1 John 1:9), to keep the channel between God and us free from any sin that hinders and separates.

As the Psalmist cries to God, "Search me O God, and know my anxious thoughts. Reveal to me my sin and cleanse me from within." Psalm 139:23-24.

Rejoice in the Lord Always!
