I
know of a father shopping
with his young daughter
for light bulbs at the
Home Depot. The daughter
in her efforts to help
her dad garbed a package
off the shelf and proceeded
to accidentally drop
it breaking one of the
bulbs.
It
turned out the bulbs
she had chosen were
a size not found in
their home, but the
father simply put the
package in his basket
and gently told the
girl that they had to
pay for them as they
had caused the damage.
"To
not pay for them would
be like stealing from
the store because they
wouldn't be able to
sell them to anyone
else."
She
was left with the understanding
of taking responsibility
for our mistakes and
paying the consequences
was better than deceiving
yourself and sinning
against God.
Thankfully
his daughter is a believer
in Christ and she and
her family knows that
it is by grace that
we are saved, through
faith, and that we don't
depend on the law saving
us. Only Jesus can save
us.
"Salvation
is found in no one else,
for there is on other
name (Jesus) under heaven
given to men by which
we must be saved."
Acts 4:12
If
you live by the law,
you die by the law.
If
you live by grace and
faith in Jesus, you
live to obey and glorify
the One who saved you.
