HOUSE SECURITY

• Leave the blinds open
• Have newspapers picked up
• Make sure the grass is cut, or snow shoveled
• Have the lights on timers
• Arrange to have a neighbour's car left in the driveway
• Arrange for someone to do security checks

• Always travel with doors locked, even when parked
• Don't stop at rest stops after hours (truck stops should be okay)
• Don't disclose your travel plans to strangers

• Your atlas should include counties and exit numbers (e.g.. Wal-Mart McNally Atlas)
• Mountain directories are a must if traveling in the mountains
• KOA directories list all parks with cabins for rent

• Be sure to have a cell phone, or CB, for emergency use
• Analog phones generally have better area coverage
• "Phone-in-a-bag" has more signal power to travel a greater distance
• Check with your carrier about double long distance charges and roaming fees

• Do not travel without it
• Make sure it includes contents insurance

• Display a sign or a white flag
• Honk the horn 3 times, repeatedly, and turn on the flashing lights to attract attention to the fact that you need help
• Stay in your vehicle, keep the doors locked and the windows slightly open
• Only leave the vehicle to talk to Police, not strangers
